Volunteer firefighters who are part of the Special Device for Fighting Rural Fires (DECIR) will receive €64 per day this year, three euros more than in 2022, according to the financial directive that comes into force on Saturday.

The 2023 financial directive, approved this week by the Secretary of State for Civil Protection, Patrícia Gaspar, establishes the State's contribution to expenses resulting from interventions by fire brigades in the different operational devices of civil protection, namely in DECIR.

In addition to the increase in the daily amount that each volunteer firefighter will receive, from 61 to 64 euros, the daily contribution to command elements also rises from 71 to 74,7 euros, according to the financial directive, which Lusa had access to.

The document also contemplates a 5,1% increase in the amount of daily payments made to the personnel that integrate the intervention teams and other reinforcement groups.

This year, food expenses will also be updated by around 7,8%, increasing the cost of lunch and dinner from €10 to €10,80 and light meals from €2,75 to €XNUMX.

The tables referring to amounts payable for breakdown or damage to equipment and operating vehicles have also been updated.

According to the document, this year there will be an average increase of 10% in the reference values for vehicles and 5% for equipment.

This year's financial directive also increases by 75% the daily amount, per operational, to be paid to the humanitarian associations of volunteer firefighters that host DECIR's exclusive intervention teams and which is intended to support the costs of logistical support, an amount that goes from one for 1,75 euros per operating.

The 2023 financial directive, which will come into force on Saturday, establishes the State's contribution to expenses resulting from interventions by fire brigades under the permanent provisions of the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC), namely the Integrated Device for Protection and Relief Operations (DIOPS), Special Device for Combating Rural Fires and Joint Protection and Relief Device in Serra da Estrela (DICSE).

The document also includes the expenses of volunteer firefighters with fuel and personal protective equipment.

The financial directive is reviewed annually and was approved after hearing the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority and the Portuguese Firefighters League.

The Special Device for Combating Rural Fires for this year will be considered and approved on Friday at the meeting of the National Civil Protection Commission, the coordinating body in matters of civil protection, which will be chaired by Secretary of State Patrícia Gaspar.

The Ministry of Internal Administration has already announced that this year there will be a reinforcement of combat means.
