Owners who sell houses to the State or municipalities exempt from capital gains

The measure aims to increase the supply of homes for the affordable rental market

Owners who sell housing to the State or municipalities will benefit from capital gains tax exemption, the Prime Minister announced today.

António Costa was speaking at the end of a Council of Ministers in which a new legislative package on housing was approved, with measures aimed at stimulating the rental market, as well as streamlining and encouraging construction.

The measure aims to increase the supply of homes for the affordable rental market.
