Government approves credit line for municipalities to carry out works on vacant houses

The Government announced today a line of credit aimed at municipalities, so that they can carry out work on vacant houses.

The measure, which is part of the Mais Habitação Programme, approved today by a Council of Ministers exclusively dedicated to the issue of housing, provides for 150 million euros to finance the credit line to municipalities to carry out “coercive works in vacant houses and with low conditions of housing”. habitability”, announced Prime Minister António Costa.

This funding to municipalities by the State is not new, but municipalities "rarely" resort to the current model in force, he stressed.

The holding of a Council of Ministers dedicated to housing was announced in January by the Prime Minister, in an interview with RTP, with the Government assuming affordable housing as one of the biggest challenges of today.
