It is an "important" work that will help solve the "sewage problems" in Ribeira do Cadoiço, in Loulé. The Court of Auditors approved the contract for the construction of a new collector that will improve the environmental quality of Cadoiço. The work starts next week.
The contract involves building an alternative collector to the one installed in Ribeira da Graça (water and sewage).
The consignment note will be signed next Tuesday, December 13th, and the work, assured Vítor Aleixo to the Sul Informação, is "to start immediately".
The investment is, according to the mayor of Loulé, "around 1,5 million euros".
The contract was long awaited because, according to the municipality, it will «solve a structural issue in the pipeline that crosses part of the city, and that has worsened in recent years, causing the occurrence of "discharges" in Cadoiço», especially during the period more rain.
The works consist of the construction of a large collector, starting at Rua Drª Laura Ayres (in front of the Administrative Court of Loulé), continuing below Rua Ventura de Sousa Barbosa, Rua General Humberto Delgado, Rua Ribeiro da Graça and Rua from Cadoiço.
«A section of domestic collector will also be executed between the parking area that connects Rua General Humberto Delgado and Rua Antero de Quental, as well as the repair and replacement of existing infrastructure along the entire route», says the Câmara de Loulé .
Speaking to our newspaper, mayor Vítor Aleixo said that this work will «allow Ribeira do Cadoiço to be given the treatment it deserves».
Moreover, even recently, the Almargem association coordinated a project called “Cadoiço Vive” in which measures such as the renaturalization of the riparian gallery and the reinforcement of wild fauna were successfully applied.
The objective of this work is, in fact, to make this natural area, which is located at the gates of the city of Loulé and has a waterfall, more pleasant.
