Bishop of the Algarve received at the Chamber of Lagoa

On this visit, the bishop of the Algarve thanked the support that the municipality has given to the parishes

D. Manuel Neto Quintas, Bishop of the Algarve, was received, on the 15th of December, at the Chamber of Lagoa, as part of the pastoral visit he made to the parishes of Lagoa and Parchal and to the vicariate of Mexilhoeira da Carregação.

The prelate from the Algarve made this visit, from the 10th to the 18th of December, visiting several private institutions of social solidarity, including nursing homes and nurseries, the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lagoa, the Câmara de Lagoa and the União das Freguesias de Lagoa and Carvoeiro.

Accompanied by Father Nuno Coelho, parish priest of Lagoa, Parchal and Mexilhoeira da Carregação, and by the deacon João Pontes, D. Manuel Quintas was received, in the town hall building, by Luís Encarnação, mayor, Anabela Simão, by the councilors Ana Martins and Ruben Palma, as well as José Albino, head of the president's support office.

 

 

On this visit, the bishop of the Algarve thanked the support that the municipality has given to the parishes, namely in supporting the restoration of the Igreja Matriz de Lagoa and the Igreja Matriz de São Tiago, in Estômbar, national heritage.

«I thank you on behalf of the Catholic Church for all the support given in the restoration of buildings that are everyone's heritage and that are part of our history», said D. Manuel Neto Quintas.

«It was a great honor for us to receive D. Manuel Quintas, in Lagoa, in the Town Hall. It is not every day that this happens and it is always a privilege», said Luís Encarnação, mayor of Lagoa.
