Nelson Conceição releases 10 video clips from his album «Discovering me»

Several themes from this disc were awarded internationally

Nelson Conceição, accordionist and composer from the Algarve, will release this Saturday, the 12th, at 21:00 pm, on social networks and on his youtube channel, 10 video clips from his record album discovering myself, which premiered in 2019 at Cine-Teatro Louletano.

The album would gain notoriety with several internationally awarded themes.

After the launch of the book with the transcriptions of the songs, last May, in Alcobaça, and in view of the success of some songs at an international level, Nelson Conceição decided to complete the album discovering myself with video clips of the songs that make up the disc, some of which have great significance for the musician.

This videographic project counts on the institutional partnership of the Ministry of Culture, within the scope of the Guarantee Culture program, and also with the support of the Municipality of Loulé, Cine-Teatro Louletano, Casa da Cultura de Loulé, Fado com História (Tavira), Sociedade Recreativa Bordeirense and Parish Council of Santa Bárbara de Nexe.

The video clips were made by João Espada and also had the participation of some guest actors.

In this octet and videographic version of the discovering myself, Nelson Conceição is accompanied by Ivo Martins (drums and percussions), Cláudio Sousa and José Vieira (classical guitar), Pedro Sá (viola bow), João Pedro Cunha (violin), Ana Patrícia Correia (cello), Luís Henrique (bass and double bass) and Cristina Paulo (voice).

In 2020, the album discovering myself was twice nominated for the IPMA (International Portuguese Music Awards) in the United States of America, with the themes Charolais e Mister Machado in the categories Best Traditional Performance e Best Instrumental Performance, respectively.

Mister Machado would even win the IPMA award.

In addition to these two themes, also in 2011, the work “The girl who liked Amália” had already won the 1st prize Italy Award for better modern composition and, in 2018, the theme “O Amigo de Alcobaça” would be one of the themes included in the program of his student João Palma who would become Accordion World Champion in Kaunas – Lithuania.
