“Workshops at the Cape of the World” exhibition ends its tour in Vila do Bispo

Over 500 days, the exhibition was on display in various parts of the Algarve

The journey of the photographic exhibition “Oficinas no Cabo do Mundo”, which started in August 2021, will end between November 17th and December 30th at the Interpretation Center of Vila do Bispo, the municipality where the monument that inspired the exhibition is located and where it was initially visible: the Fortress of Sagres

The exhibition is the result of a project that involved young people aged between 16 and 20, students of the Professional Tourism Technician Course at the Professional School Cândido Guerreiro – Alte and seniors aged up to 85 years living in that parish, who «embarked on a journey of discovery, exploration, learning, living together experiences, exchanging knowledge, sharing affections and artistic creation about the Fortress of Sagres», according to the association In Loco, one of the project partners.

Over 500 days, the exhibition «visited villages, towns, cities». The first stop was the Fortress of Sagres, followed by the Cândido Guerreiro and Condes de Alte Museum and the “O Rosmaninho” Restaurant in Sarnadas, both in this parish in the municipality of Loulé.

The Regional Directorate of the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth, in Faro and the Roman Ruins of Milreu, in Estoi, hosted the exhibition before it visited all parishes in the municipality of Loulé, where it was at the Municipality Center of Quarteira, at the Parish Council of Boliqueime, at the Tourism Office of Salir, at Casa do Meio Dia by Editora Sul, Sol e Sal, in the heart of the city of Loulé, in Jardim das Comunidades, in Almancil, at MAR Shopping Algarve, at the Parish Councils of Ameixial, Tor and Benafim and at the Manuel Viegas Guerreiro Foundation, in Querença.

 

 

The Cineteatro de São Brás de Alportel, the library on the Penha Campus of the University of Algarve, the CCDR Algarve Gallery, in Faro and the library on the UAlg Campus of Portimão were the other points where the exhibition passed.

Throughout this journey, the exhibition «promoted the development of intergenerational relationships and complicity and motivated knowledge, appreciation, preservation and dissemination of Heritage».

The Oficinas no Cabo do Mundo project was jointly promoted by the association In Loco, Parish Council of Alte, Professional School of Alte, CIPRL and its Professional School Cândido Guerreiro, Center for Animation and Community Development of the Parish of Alte and Casa do People of Alte/Altense Youth.

The initiative was financed by the DiVaM Program (Dissemination and Enhancement of Monuments), of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve and had the support of the Municipality of Loulé – Municipal Museum – Cândido Guerreiro and Condes de Alte Museum Center, of the Tourism Region of Algarve, the National Federation of Film Clubs and the International Federation of Film Clubs.
