The Municipality of São Brás de Alportel is intensifying the maintenance of rainwater drainage and streams, with several actions already underway.
Activities include cleaning ditches, sinkholes, longitudinal drainage grates, checking storm drains, downspouts, balconies and critical areas.
«These works are extremely important in preventing floods and damages, as well as in safeguarding people, property and the environment, are being carried out by municipal services», says the municipality in a note, adding that since September it has already Several actions to remove residues, soil and garbage that have been deposited in gutters, sinks and collectors have been implemented.
«Works that imply an increased effort by the operational services of the municipality using manual and mechanical processes for these cleaning operations».
The operations have been developed together with the Forest Sapadores and Firefighters Team in the cleaning and maintenance of streams and main water lines with a view to preventing overflows and landslides.
This is an effort by the City Council through its operational services and for which the municipality highlights the collaboration of citizens who inform and communicate situations that require intervention.
