From music to documentaries, Cineteatro Louletano with a vast program for October

Until the 30th

Cineteatro Louletano presents a vast cultural program for the month of October, ranging from music to theater, passing through documentaries. 

The program began last Saturday with a concert by Pedro Burmester and Mário Laginha that marked World Music Day. But the cultural proposals of this concert hall will continue on the 7th and 8th of this month, with a premiere.

“No Meio do Caminho”, by Teatro Griot, is based on the play “A Divina Comédia”, by Dante Alighieri, located between Inferno, Purgatório and Paraíso, at 21:00, with interpretation in Portuguese Sign Language.

The following day, the 9th, there is the premiere of a documentary about the Portuguese space project, “A Odisseia Espacial Portuguesa”, which brings to Loulé several guests linked to aeronautics and to Portugal’s desire to also share a share of Space, in which others countries have invested so much.

On October 15, at the Solar da Música Nova Auditorium, the “Crescendo” concerts return, by the Loulé Music Conservatory – Francisco Rosado, with the support of Cineteatro Louletano. Always on the third Saturday of each month, “Crescendo” are musical moments that highlight the work of the Conservatory's students, valuing cultural intervention and the connection of music teaching to the community.

Also on the 15th, but at Cineteatro, at 17:00, a play that combines theater and music and comes directly from Brazil. “Gota d'Água” is based on the 1975 musical by Chico Buarque and Paulo Pontes, and intends to highlight the racial, social and class discussion, fundamental in the current political moment that Brazil is going through.

The piece is part of a national exhibition, the Mostra São Palco, which marks the 200th anniversary of Brazil's independence.

On the 16th, there is a program for kids and adults: the Concert for Babies. Two sessions, at 10:00 am and 11:30 am, this time with the participation of the singer Luísa Sobral, in an environment where babies and children up to 36 months take care of the piece, and can give free rein to their voices and talents. The show takes place in the Solar da Música Nova Auditorium.

Still on the 16th, but at 17:00, also at Solar da Música Nova, concert by Rhakatta, by Folha de Medronho. Rhakatta are a percussion group of traditional African music that are “playing at home”, as they emerged in Loulé. They follow in the footsteps of the West African Mandingue tradition, encouraging learning based on traditional themes, using Djembés and Doumdouns.

At night, on the same day, but at Cineteatro, there is a concert integrated into the São Palco Show: Dani Nega, Brazilian rapper, theater and film actress, television presenter and activist of the black movement. Dani denounces racism, machismo and violence against women, defending the right to freedoms, which include gender identity.

 

 

On October 21, new premiere. It is a trilingual piece, in Portuguese, French and Spanish, created by the local association Mákina de Cena. “Samotracias” that brings stories of three women of different ages and destinations, but with a common dream: to emigrate.

On October 22, Cineteatro Louletano marks the 30th anniversary of a special bar for the city of Loulé, Bafo de Baco. For friends, Bafo has brought numerous modern music bands to Loulé, many of them unknown or of a more alternative nature, contributing to the dissemination of new talents. In this concert, at 21 pm, Horácio Costa (also known as “Major”) brings us “The Mirandas”, a band of Faro who has been playing at major festivals lately. The opening will be in charge of Marc Noah and the party will continue into the night, at Bafo de Baco, with Your Own Personal Djs.

On the 24th, the workshop “Untitled, Still Life” starts, open to registrations for those who want to participate in this performance by Ana Borralho and João Galante, integrated in a residency at the Verão Azul Festival. The workshop will take place in the Auditorium of Convento do Espírito Santo until the 28th, and two of the participants will be selected to be part of the show on the 29th, at 17:00, in the same auditorium.

The 28th and 29th, again theater: it is “Cortes de Jupiter”, by Teatro do Eléctrico, in an adaptation of Gil Vicente's work aimed at schools and the general public.

In this Vincentian work, the maritime expansion of the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries is evoked: Providence, entrusted by God, orders Jupiter, king of the elements, to arrange good planets and signs for the journey across the Atlantic to Savoy. Mars is also called upon to protect the splendorous Portuguese fleet of eighteen ships.

The session on the 29th, at 21:00 pm, has an audio description service for blind and visually impaired people. Also on the 29th, but at 17:00, in the Auditorium of the Convento do Espírito Santo, the presentation of “Untitled, Still Life”, after the one-week workshop.

And finally, on October 30th, the program ends with music, with one of the icons of hip hop in Portugal. Timóteo Tiny, better known for NBC, he who has been the face, in recent years, of Cais Sodré Funk Connection. Born in São Tomé and Príncipe, NBC crosses Soul, R&B, Drum and Bass, Rock and Electronics, and has enormous versatility to transform and create acoustic versions.
