CCDR Algarve goes today to the Municipal Assembly of Tavira to report

Presidency of CCDR Algarve will attend all municipal assemblies in the Algarve until the end of this year

José Apolinário, president of the Algarve Coordination and Regional Development Commission (CCDR), as well as vice-presidents José António Pacheco and Elsa Cordeiro, resume this Monday, October 17, the process of accountability in the context of democratization of the CCDRs, foreseen in the Government Program, participating in the Thematic Extraordinary Session of the Municipal Assembly of Tavira, which will take place at 21:00 pm, in the Auditorium of the Municipal Library Álvaro de Campos, in Tavira.

The regional roadmap «Prestar Accounts» integrates the commitment made during the 2020 electoral process and will take the Presidency of CCDR Algarve to all municipal assemblies in the Algarve until the end of this year.

Functions of CCDRs:

Pursuant to article 2 of Decree-Law no. 228/2012 of 25 October (Organic Law on CCDRs, in its updated version), these have the mission of ensuring the coordination and articulation of the various sectoral policies for regional scope, as well as implementing environmental, spatial and city planning policies, and providing technical support to local authorities and their associations, at the level of the respective geographic areas of operation.

The CCDRs also have the mission of implementing the State's policy of incentives to the media, at the level of the respective geographic areas of operation, under the terms of the law.

The CCDRs carry out, within the scope of their respective territorial jurisdictions, the following attributions:

a) Contribute to the definition of regional development policy within the framework of the country's economic and social development policy, stimulating and participating in territorial-based strategic planning processes, as well as fostering partnerships between regional agents, developing studies for the articulation of sectoral policies in the regional space and develop integrated programs aimed at territorial cohesion and competitiveness;

b) Ensure the articulation between institutions of the direct administration of the State, local authorities and similar entities and stimulate cross-border inter-regional cooperation, contributing to the European integration of the regional space and to the reinforcement of its competitiveness, based on sustainable development strategies at regional and local levels;

c) Promoting and guaranteeing adequate intersectoral articulation between decentralized services of a regional scope, in terms of strategic coordination and planning of interventions of an environmental, economic and social nature, from a regional development perspective;

d) Technically support local authorities and their associations;

e) Implement, evaluate and monitor, at regional level, environmental and spatial planning policies;

f) Guarantee the elaboration, monitoring and evaluation of territorial management instruments, ensuring their articulation with the territorial management instruments of national and regional scope;

g) Ensure compliance with the management responsibilities entrusted to them within the scope of the European Union's cohesion policy in Portugal;

h) Promote and promote, in the respective region, the necessary public policies with the aim of contributing to its economic and social competitiveness and sustainability.

i) Carry out the measures regarding the application of State incentive schemes to the media, as well as ensure the supervision of the respective compliance, under the terms of the law.
