Chameleon of the Algarve makes itself known at an exhibition in Loulé

Until September 30th

The traveling exhibition “Conhecer o Camaleão”, will be on display at the Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen Municipal Library, in Loulé, until the 30th of September, to make this Algarve species known.

The initiative follows the winning project of the Young Portugal Participatory Budget 2019, “Centre for the Recovery and Research of the Chameleon of the Algarve” with the aim of promoting the conservation of the common chameleon (calls eleo calls eleon), through
raising community awareness of its importance and respective threat factors and improving knowledge of its biology and geographic distribution, involving citizens and the scientific community.

The technical execution of this project is in charge of the Vita Nativa Association and its partner entities are the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth, through the Algarve Regional Directorate, the municipalities of Loulé, Faro, Olhão, Tavira, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António, the University of Algarve and the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests.

“Conhecer o Camaleão” can be visited between the 2nd and 14th of September, on weekdays, from 9:30 am to 19:00 pm. From the 15th to the 30th of September, on Mondays, visits are from 14:30 pm to 19:00 pm, and from Tuesday to Friday, from 9:30 am to 19:00 pm. On Saturday, the hours are from 10:00 to 17:30.
