ISMAT will have a new master's degree in Rehabilitation of Buildings and Sites

Will be available next school year

The Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes (ISMAT), in Portimão, will have yet another new course in the next academic year, the Masters in Rehabilitation of Buildings and Sites.

The new master's degree, which has just been accredited by the Higher Education Assessment and Accreditation Agency, aims, according to the Institute, "to respond to the need for intervention in existing places, heritage or otherwise, through a multidisciplinary vision of the rehabilitation of territories whose degradation requires an integrated intervention, whether in buildings, infrastructure, equipment or collective urban green spaces».

The course will last three semesters and combines theoretical, technical and aesthetic aspects in a multidisciplinary and practical pedagogy.

The course will be guided in its design and development by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals approved by the UN, under the 2030 Agenda.

«This Master will equip students with the fundamental tools for the REUSE of buildings and sites, supporting the effort of Governments and Citizens to create a global model of governance that fights poverty, protects the environment and promotes prosperity and well-being », stresses the ISMAT.

The course is aimed at professionals working in the field of architecture, urbanism or construction, who intend to join or form companies dedicated to the rehabilitation, management, maintenance and conservation of heritage, or to the real estate sector.

In addition, “it enables students to integrate regional or national entities for the management of cultural heritage, municipal structures or other public and private bodies, and also to initiate or continue a research path”, the Institute also clarifies.

Applications are open until October.
