Quinta do Lago is, at the moment, «the critical point» of the fire that, having set off last night in the Gambelas area (Faro), next to the University of Algarve, ended up progressing to the neighboring municipality of Loulé, said regional commander Richard Marques.

Villas and offices, namely those of the municipal company Infraquinta, in that luxury urbanization, are being evacuated, preventively, while the flames are mainly consuming the gardens of houses and public areas.

Although, a few minutes ago, Richard Marques, district operational commander, said that, of the two fronts, one of them is in the process of being consolidated, projections are being verified, one right next to the stone pine forest on the Gambelas do UAlg, where, incidentally, the Sul Informação has its writing, as you can see in this video:

The operational command ended up having to mobilize means to fight the flames in this area, located on the first front, next to the fence of the Gambelas campus.

The fire, which already has a perimeter of 8 kilometers, is currently being fought by 282 operatives, supported by 102 vehicles, including two crawler machines, and four aerial assets: two Fireboss amphibious planes, a Kamov heavy helicopter and a light helicopter. The planes are refueling in the estuary, in areas defined by the National Maritime Authority, while the helicopters are refueling in the lake of Quinta do Lago itself.

Richard Marques said just now, in the mid-morning situation, that this lake is «very close to the fire site, which makes the means very effective in their ability to extinguish the fire.

So far, according to this official, 20 people have been displaced, most of them from the illegal campervan camp and the rest from houses in Quinta do Lago.

The means werepreventively placed overnight" in that area, to "safeguard people's homes and ensure that no one is in the risk zone", he added.

Despite all efforts and the attack muscular which was made just last night, as soon as the fire broke out, Richard Marques underlined that «with a perimeter of this nature, with the conditions on the ground and the current weather conditions, the fight is not easy, there are numerous challenges and these are the ones we are trying to overcome».
