Physiotherapy students at Instituto Piaget de Silves learn in real contexts

«Cognitive and affective aspects have equal importance and weight», emphasizes Instituto

Students of the Physiotherapy degree at Instituto Piaget de Silves learn in real contexts, with the aim of promoting the participation of higher education students in social dynamics.

According to the educational institution, «a learning process has to take into account the biological aspects and the interaction of the individual with the physical and social environment, where the cognitive and affective aspects have equal importance and weight, in a perspective that the knowledge and learning can only be constructed through human action, in social contexts».

Thus, the students of the Physiotherapy degree performed soft tissue mobilization techniques in children from the Enxerim-Silves Kindergarten, having the opportunity to practice one of the techniques learned, as well as knowing how to intervene with children.

In the opinion of the Piaget Institute, «the skills to be acquired by higher education students in the area of Health must involve a set of theoretical knowledge, know-how (practical activities) and know-how (socio-affective behaviors)» and , therefore, "theHigher education institutions must have a greater participation in social dynamics».
