Albufeira has already started to celebrate the 25th of April, with the inauguration of the photographic exhibition “And after the goodbye”, by Marques Valentim, and will continue to do so until the day of the Carnation Revolution with music, sports and tributes.
On the 1st of April, the exhibition by Marques Valentim was opened at the Pintor Samora Barros Art Gallery, an exhibition that can be seen until the 29th of April.
This was the kick-off for a program that will have as highlights the concert by Luís Trigacheiro, on the 24th of April, and the tribute to the health professionals of the municipality, on the 25th.
This latest initiative, the ceremony of recognition and tribute to frontline professionals working against Covid-19 in the county, will take place at 9:45 am on Freedom Day, in the Salão Nobre dos Paços do Concelho.
«Following tradition, before this ceremony, the usual Official Ceremony of Raising the Flag with Guard of Honor of the Volunteer Firefighters of Albufeira will take place, in front of the City Hall building, at 9:30 am, to the sound of the National Anthem by the Musical Society Band and Recreio Popular de Paderne».
The night before, at 21 pm, Luís Trigacheiro performs a free-entry concert (subject to room capacity) at the Municipal Auditorium.
The Portuguese musician, who has been «dedicated to the revival of Cante Alentejano, will take the stage with the Casa do Alentejo Choir in Albufeira.
The program also includes sporting activities, including the VI Duathlon 25 de Abril, organized by FC Ferreiras, which is part of the Algarve Duathlon Championship, scheduled for 11:00 am, on 25 April, at Estádio da Nora.
Two more stages of the 13th Edition of the Albufeira Children's Football Championship – Golfinhos are also scheduled, one on the 23rd, at Estádio João Campos, in Paderne, and another on the 25th, at the Municipal Stadium of Albufeira.
Also on the day of the Carnation Revolution, the 25th of April walk by the group “Caminhadas ao Luar” takes place, with a meeting point at the Albufeira Volunteer Fire Brigade at 20:00 pm.
The 25th of April program in Albufeira also has other proposals, such as the conference “April Revolution in the Algarve”, with Colonel José Castelo Glória Alves and Colonel Carlos Leal Branco, two figures from the military forces who lived closely the Revolution and the beginning of democracy in the Algarve, on the 22nd, at 15 pm, at the Municipal Historical Archive.
On the 23rd, at 9:00 am, there is also the “Caminhada no Algarvensis – PR4 ABF: Planalto Escarpão Trail”, with a meeting point at the João Campos Stadium, in Paderne.
