“Alcoutim Semper Solidário” project receives electric vehicle

This is an offer from the municipality, BPI and Fundação La Caixa

The “Alcoutim Semper Solidário” project will now be supported by a seven-seat electric vehicle, an offer from the City Council that represented a total investment of around 38 thousand euros, 75% co-funded by BPI and the “la Caixa” Foundation. under the Decentralized Social Initiative 2021.

The project benefiting from this offer aims to «promote equal opportunity to access services in the area of ​​health and well-being, while contributing to environmental sustainability, thus promoting the population's quality of life», according to the Alcoutim Chamber.

«It is a program to support the population, which consists of the delivery, at the respective residence, of food and medicines, as well as the transport of citizens for consultations of different specialties. The program is aimed at the general population and covers 400 direct beneficiaries”, he added.

According to Osvaldo Gonçalves, mayor of Alcoutim, «in addition to the social aspect, this project also encompasses objectives in terms of environmental sustainability».

The electric vehicle now acquired «will be the first electric vehicle to belong to the municipal car fleet, thus marking the beginning of what is intended to be the turning point, in the construction of an environmentally friendly car fleet», says the mayor.

The Decentralized Social Initiative 2021 is intended to support social projects at the local level of private or public non-profit institutions that are BPI Clients.
