The Municipality of Monchique launched an awareness campaign aimed at the population, in which it appeals to «everyone» to contribute in «management, regulated use and water saving».
The initiative comes as part of a process «of incorporation of the guidelines of sustainable development goals in municipal practice» and draws attention to the fact that a large part of the country «is in severe or extreme drought», as well as to the fact that January have been the 6th driest month since 1931.
«Small habits can make big differences and this environmental, but also social, awareness is very important to create sustainable and correct habits and behaviors», defends the Monchiquense Chamber.
After all, says the municipality, water sustainability “is, above all, a matter of citizenship”.
