The photography exhibition “Faces and Voices of the Mountain: Guardians of Soil and Water”, by the anthropologist Sónia Tomé, held within the scope of the project Arade River: route to the Boião-Azilheira fountains, starts its itinerary on January 10th, at 17:30 pm, at the António Rosa Mendes Library of the University of Algarve (Campus de Gambelas, Faro).

The exhibition, promoted by the Municipality of Silves and the QRER cooperative, aims to “raise the public's awareness of the importance of the Serra in terms of the environmental balance of the Algarve region, in particular regarding the availability and quality of fresh water, and also raise awareness of the fundamental contribution of those who live here in maintaining this balance».

As it is a collection of photography used as an instrument for research and anthropological reflection, this is also an important tribute to local ways of life and to all those who inhabit this territory, as part of the aspiring Geopark Algarvensis.
