Athletes from Loulé ascend to the podium in the Portuguese Cup of MTB Marathon

Last scoring test was played in Condeixa-a-Nova

Andrew Henriques (BTT Loulé / Elevis) ranked 2nd in the Portugal Cup of BTT marathon (XCM), which was won by Bruno Sancho (Korpo Activo / Penacova), already national XCM champion. This result was achieved in the last scoring test, which was played in Condeixa-a-Nova. Also Marisa Costa and Celina Carpinteiro (both from the BTT Loulé/Elevis team) took 2nd place on the podium in their categories.

The 2021 season's regularity trophy was decided in the 80 kilometers of this Sunday's marathon, played on terrain hardened by rain, in the middle of the Sicó mountains. Andrew Henriques (BTT Loulé / Elevis) left in command of the Cup, but Bruno Sancho was enough to be the strongest in Condeixa to dethrone the Algarve.

Two weeks after winning the title of elite national champion, the former road professional confirmed the good moment and was the best of all in Condeixa. Bruno Sancho completed the race in 4h01m37s, less 4m46s than the Algarve's Andrew Henriques and Filipe Francisco (Louletano-Loulé Concelho), who accompanied him on the podium this Sunday.

With this result, Bruno Sancho won the Cup, with 940 points, 30 more than Andrew Henriques and 340 more than Roberto Ferreira (DMT Racing Team).

The female elite covered 60 kilometers, enough for Marilyne Marques (CCDR Colmeal Torre/Visit Belmonte/Starmodular) to make a difference and triumph after 4h09m50s.

The Algarve's Marisa Costa (BTT Loulé / Elevis) spent more than 2m05s and was second, while Marlene Gonçalves (Douro BTT CPAD) closed the podium, at 12m14s. Ana Antunes won the Cup, with 800 points, followed by another from the Algarve, Celina Carpinteiro (BTT Loulé/Elevis), with 630, and Marlene Gonçalves, with 610.

Among the veterans, the Portugal Cup was won by masters 30 Filipe Ramos (Guilhabreu BTT) and Ana Barata (BTT Gardunha/Fundão/Create), master 35 José Lourenço (SPAC BTT), masters 40 Martinho Saragoça (Róódinhas/Santos Silva) and Raquel Santos (BTT Seia), for master 45 José Magalhães (Guilhabreu BTT), for master 50 António Marques (BTT Seia) and Carla Vieira (Padeirinhas Sobre Rodas/Simoldes), for master 55 Fernando Gonçalves (CTM/Vila Pouca /CEPSA/Casa Lima Chaves) and by master 60 Abílio Moreira (Trepanelas/Prifer).

The Cup in the paracycling classes went to Tiago Craveiro, in D, and Hugo Frade (Saertex Portugal/Edaetech), in C. Carlos Brás (Golden Clube Cabanas) won the trophy in electric assistance bicycle.

Vasconha BTT Vouzela was the best team, while BTT Gardunha/Fundão/Create was the best block in masters overall.
