Chef Rui Silvestre is the new “Gastronomic Ambassador of Baixo Guadiana”

Announcement comes after the launch of the action «At the table of Baixo Guadiana, the mountains, the river and the sea»

Chef Rui Silvestre of the “Vistas” restaurant, which has a Michelin Star, is the new Algarve's “Gastronomic Ambassador of Baixo Guadiana”, after the action «At the table at Baixo Guadiana, the mountains, the river and the sea», launched on the 12th of October.

As part of the INTERPYME project, Odiana has an ongoing gastronomic curation action that aims to «disseminate and promote the territory's products, along with positioning the offer and gastronomic heritage of Baixo Guadiana», the association begins by saying.

This action, dubbed «At the table at Baixo Guadiana, the mountains, the river and the sea», will develop demonstrations , and actions with the media and opinion makers, through the gastronomic ambassador of Baixo Guadiana: chef Rui Silvestre.

Rui Silvestre was born in Valongo, but has lived in the Algarve since he was 10 years old. In search of inspiration for new dishes and new cooking techniques, to discover other cultures and flavors, «he spent 7 years in French, Swiss and Hungarian restaurants, highlighting his passage through France, at the Le Castellet restaurant by Christophe Bacquié, with three Michelin stars'.

In 2015, the chef achieved his first Michelin star, becoming the youngest Portuguese chef ever (at 29 years of age) to gain this coveted recognition, a feat that he repeated in 2019 bringing to the Vistas Restaurant and to Sotavento Algarve's first Michelin star.

The choice of the ambassador was based on «the versatility and excellence of the professional, being the Michelin star with the greatest geographical proximity to the Baixo Guadiana product basket (Restaurant Vistas)», explains Odiana.

The gastronomic curatorship service is based in the territory, focusing on promoting small and medium-sized companies that adhere to the project, with products such as Castro Marim salt, fresh goat cheese, almonds, fresh and dried figs, the menu. Indian figs, traditional sweets, jams, honey, citrus fruits from the Algarve and other processed products.

Within the scope of the INTERPYME project, Odiana is also providing, to small and medium-sized companies participating in the project, consultancy services and photographic portfolio, financial consultancy added to business management and submission of applications to European funds. A communication consulting service with graphic and printing services is also available. The goal is "to enhance, improve and promote their competitiveness", emphasizes Odiana.
