CAMA brings artistic creation and experimentation workshops to Guadeloupe

Project is from CAMA – Cultural Association

Workshops for artistic creation and experimentation take place, from August 17th to September 11th, at the Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe (Vila do Bispo), in a CAMA – Associação Cultural project.

«“In the field | In the Far | No Perto” is a project for the integration of the community in creative processes, which are normally difficult to access in peripheral areas, demystifying the role of the artist in the social and professional context”, says the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve.

The initiative is based on inviting artists and other collaborators to share creative processes or thinking and reflection on artistic practices with the community.

Four workshops for artistic creation and experimentation will be developed, with a curatorship composed of four artists, who work in different areas.

Participation is free, but limited to 10 participants per workshop/activity, and registration in more than one activity is possible. Registration is open until the 12th of August here.

The hours of each workshop will be from Tuesday to Friday, from 14:30 pm to 17:30 pm, and on Saturday, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.

From the 17th to the 21st of August, the workshop “HOME: dramaturgy and media practices” will be held, by Mariana Ferreira. The artist's proposal is that each participant has the experience of creating an artistic object from some of the tools they usually use in their work, in particular technology and memory/biography.

The second workshop, by Beatriz Marques Dias, will take place from the 24th to the 28th of August, and has the theme “Transmission: art and feminism”.

Based on the books: As Mulheres e os Homens and Como can be a democracy, by Editora Orfeu Negro, the artist intends to develop a body and movement workshop, in direct relationship with the community, flowing in sessions of reflection and proposals based on the contents of the books with the working group.

“Beyond Oblivion: sound and visual choreographies”, by Daniel Matos, is the theme of the workshop which runs from 31st August to 4th September.

This workshop will seek, together with various participants from the local community, from different age groups, to bring together dialogues and sharing of desires, fears and dreams, through the practice of recording and manipulating sound, video and light, applying choreographic practice.

The fourth and final workshop, under the responsibility of Joana Flor Duarte, has the theme “Suspended: creative writing practices” and takes place from 7th to 11th September.

This creative writing workshop for families, intends to develop a study in what is writing with different hands and how this exercise opens possibilities for the exchange of different perspectives on the same theme.

On September 11, an Open Room is scheduled to be held, with the presentation of the work done with the community.
