Algarve Yolanda Hopkins finishes Olympic Games in 5th place

This morning, Yolanda Hopkins, from the Algarve, finished her participation in the Tokyo Olympic Games in 5th place, earning her an Olympic diploma. The surfer was eliminated in the quarter-finals by South African Bianca Buitendag.

In a heat played with practically no waves, the Algarve ended with a score of 5,46 against 9,5 by Bianca Buitendag.

This was the debut of surfing as an Olympic sport, and, in addition to Yolanda Hopkins' 5th place, Portugal also won 9th place, through Teresa Bonvalot.
