Loulé celebrated Children's Day with improvements in two schools in the city

Investment was around 118 thousand euros

Loulé marked World Children's Day this Tuesday, June 1st, with the inauguration of improvements in the EB1 Mãe Soberana and EB 2,3 Duarte Pacheco Schools, in the city of Loulé.

The requalification of the playing fields of the EB1 Mãe Soberana and EB2,3 Engº Duarte Pacheco schools – the most voted proposal in the 2018 Participatory Budget in the parish of São Sebastião – "is already a reality that has benefited this school community", says the Chamber of Loule.

This investment, which amounted to around 118 thousand euros (the amount channeled by the Municipality to this parish that year), involved the placement of a floor adapted to sports practice, as well as elements such as new basketball hoops or the creation of an athletics track.

As Carlos Fernandes, director of the Engenheiro Duarte Pacheco Schools Group explained, this intervention "resulted from a proposal that was presented by the school, through teachers and staff", being one of the winners in this citizenship project, promoted by the Municipality of Loulé since the year 2014.

On this day, a new space dedicated to the Arts was also inaugurated, which resulted from a partnership with Academia IluminArte/Associação Satori.

In the existing amphitheater at Escola EB2,3 Engenheiro Duarte Pacheco, a work was created that intends to perpetuate the memory of two figures who are part of the municipality's identity: Duarte Pacheco, patron of the school, and the popular poet António Aleixo. The mural painting, by the artist Renato, also highlights two arts: literature and music.

«The latter is also particularly important for this school community, given the proximity of the Loulé Music Conservatory. The partnership between the two institutions will allow, in the next 10 years, the articulated teaching of Music to be accommodated in this group», says the municipality.

On this Children's Day, the group's director highlighted not only the importance of the Municipality of Loulé and the Parish Council of São Sebastião for the school community, “always being attentive to the needs of the various establishments, but also the work developed on the day. day by teachers and staff, in favor of quality education for all».

Vítor Aleixo, mayor of Loulé, recalled how “it is beautiful to enter a school so tidy, so clean, so well organized, with children free and safe jumping and running. It is when we see schools like these that we are seized by a feeling of great hope and confidence in the future,” he said.

In addition to these, other works have been carried out with the support of the Autarchy, Boards and Parents' Association, as is the case of the shading of the group's headquarters school, where the current priority is even the expansion of the building, whose project is under construction.

Moreover, there are already 4 schools in the group that have been intervened under the Participatory Budget: the EB1 in Vale Judeu, where the games space was benefited (OP 2015), the EBI in Boliqueime, with the improvements made in terms of infrastructure and sports equipment, as well as coverage of some areas of the school grounds (OP 2016) and now these interventions in EB1 Mãe Soberana and EB2,3 Engº Duarte Pacheco (OP 2018).
