QRIAR – Creative Incubator of the Algarve has opened applications for its second incubation program for new projects in the area of Cultural and Creative Industry.

Applications will be open until the next April 30th. Incubates will have access to «a free monitoring program with no participation costs, and with the possibility of physical incubation in Tôr, Querença and Alcoutim, which supports start-ups willing to transform the way we produce, think and consume the Industry Cultural and Creative”, according to QRIAR, an incubator that was launched in 2019, the result of a QRER project – Cooperative for the Development of Low Density Territories, co-financed by European funds.

This, which is the first incubator in the interior of the Algarve fully dedicated to Cultural and Creative Industries, wants to energize this territory, «looking for people to work and/or live there, as well as empowering entrepreneurs with tools that allow them to continue their know-how of the region, such as: Sugarcane, Esparto, Sustainable Architecture, among others».

The incubator “also intends to support entrepreneurs who offer creative tourism solutions linked to the promotion of the interior, its people, traditions and products”.

«Participants will learn about the actions planned until 2022, namely group training sessions, artistic residency, creation of new artisanal design products, and development of new cultural and creative tourism programs. Support is also foreseen for services and/or equipment in the amount of 4 thousand euros to be allocated to two different categories – Cultural and Creative Industry and Creative Tourism», according to the QRER.

Currently, this incubator is already monitoring ten projects, and is currently preparing a course for the transmission of master-apprentice knowledge in the area of sustainable architecture and the use of sugarcane in Alcoutim.

This is a project managed by Cooperativa QRER (www.qrer.pt) and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the Interreg VA España–Portugal (POCTEP) 2014-2020 program. This project is also co-financed by the Municipality of Loulé and the Municipality of Alcoutim and with the support of the Parish Union of Querença, Tôr and Benafim, the Parish Council of Alte and the Cândido Guerreiro de Alte Professional School.
