Festival “Algarve é União” will help cultural professionals

The shows, online only, will take place on two stages in the city, in a program for the whole family

With the motto "No one is left behind", Faro will host the 1st edition of the Festival “Algarve é União”, to be held on the 8th and 9th of May, in an online format only, organized by Audiovisual union with the support of the City Council of Faro. The objective is to help cultural professionals in times of crisis for the sector.

During the two days, starting at 14 pm, there will be 00 shows spread over two stages in the city, in a program for the whole family, including music, theater, poetry, stand up, dance, among other areas.

Fuza Flowz, Tércio Nannok, Gaveta da Pedra and Kilavra, João Lum, VATe and Teresa Aleixo are some of the projects that will embrace this solidarity initiative.

The closing of the festival will be in charge of a DJ of national renown, in a performance to take place on the 9th of May, at 22:30.

The festival will be exclusively in format live stream, where all events will be broadcast on the Audiovisual Union's youtube page.

All food items, as well as the entire amount raised at the festival, will revert entirely to the non-profit cultural association, União Audiovisual.

União Audiovisual has food collection points in the Algarve. Association of Musicians of Faro (Deliveries on Wednesdays, between 10:00 and 19:00), and Recreative Association Republic 14 (Deliveries at the Biological Market, on Wednesdays, from 10:00 am to 13:00 pm), in Olhão. In addition to these points, monetary donations can be made through the association website.

This festival will bring together Algarve artists from the most varied areas, with the aim of raising funds and foodstuffs, in support of a solidary cause: support for technical professionals and artists of culture, entertainment and events.

It also appears with the aim of «giving a “stage” again to artists and technicians in the region who, due to the pandemic, have had their professional activity suspended for more than a year, which has placed many in a situation of social emergency», says the association .

“It is, therefore, urgent for everyone to unite and help, in order to dignify the work of these professionals, who contribute so much so that everyone can live with access to culture,” says União Audiovisual.
