Six Portuguese go ahead at Vale do Lobo Open II Magnesium-K Active

The Vale do Lobo Open II Magnesium-K Active kicked off this Sunday, at the Vale do Lobo Tennis Academy, with victories by six Portuguese tennis players, who qualified for the second of three qualifying rounds. The tournament is organized by Premier Sports with the support of the Portuguese Tennis Federation and distributes $25.000 in prize money.

11th seed, Gonçalo Falcão (1340th in the ATP ranking) defeated Frenchman Adan Freire da Silva, 6-2 and 6-3, a day after he won, em Faro, the most important title of the career in pairs. The 33-year-old Portuguese is followed by the Spanish Jesus Echevarri.

Fábio Coelho (1350th) also took on the pre-designated status, who overcame compatriot Bernardo Teixeira, 6-2 and 6-1, to meet Gianmarco Amatiste, from Spain.

Also this Sunday, Tiago Rodrigo Fernandes (7-6[3] and 6-0 over Adria Vallejo Ferrer), Tomás Almeida (6-0 and 6-0 over David Gabor), Francisco Faria (who won) also advanced to the second round. 4-0 when Diogo Alves gave up, due to injury) and the Algarve José Ricardo Nunes, who got the better of Greek Charalampos Fouzas in the tie-break match, by 6-4, 6-7(0) and 10-4.

Less luck had Martim Marújo, André Stewart, Luís Faria (second seed), Duarte Melo, João Portugal, Valentin de Carvalho, João Ferreira, Afonso Portugal, Diogo Morais, Tiago Torres, Héber Adonis, Illia Stoliar, Pedro Libório, Eduardo Morais and Vasco Leote Prata, who failed to make it through the opening round.

The Vale do Lobo Open II Magnesium-K Active takes place between the 7th and 14th of March on the high-speed courts of the Vale do Lobo Tennis Academy, in Loulé, and closes a series of three consecutive weeks of tennis at the highest level in the South from the country.
