equality message

The International Day for Combating Racial Discrimination was created by the UN, in accordance with a resolution passed in 1966 following the massacre that took place in Johannesburg on March 21, 1960, and which became known as the “Sharpeville Massacre”.

On that fateful day, 20 people peacefully protested against the Pass Law, which forced the black population to carry a card with identification of the places where it was allowed to circulate, when the police of the regime in apartheid fired into the unarmed crowd, causing 69 deaths and 186 wounded.

Since it is celebrated, the International Day to Combat Racial Discrimination aims to transmit a message of equality, in the sense of building a fairer world.
