"It's a big loss for everyone and everyone's help will be needed to rebuild that establishment, which is a reference and must continue to be," said Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro, over the fire that destroyed the Estaminé restaurant last night, on Desert Island.

The mayor, stressing that it is a "private enterprise", which makes any direct help from the Municipality difficult, added that, even so, "whenever necessary and possible, we will be here to help, so that we can have an Estaminé as it was rather, with his great quality, which made him known throughout the world».

"I've already spoken with the owner today and I will, in the meantime, speak with our legal department, to see if there is anything we can do to help, even if it is legal support, to deal with some situations," said Rogério Bacalhau.

in addition to the big patrimonial and personal loss for the businessman from Faro José Vargas, the mayor draws attention to the "28 jobs that are currently at stake".

However, he underlined, «what the restaurant represented in Ilha Deserta and the fact that it is a reference restaurant in Algarve tourism and for the municipality of Faro it is also a great loss”, he concluded.
