This Friday, the City Council of Aljezur congratulated the Association for the Defense of the Historical and Archaeological Heritage of Aljezur, which celebrated, on February 12, the 25th anniversary of its foundation.
In a note sent to the editorial offices, the local authority congratulates Vasco Marreiros, president of the association, «as well as all the members of the board and the
various bodies, as well as all those who over the years have contributed and collaborated to make this association a reference in terms of regional associations, hoping and wishing for another 25 years of intense activity».

The Municipality of Aljezur emphasizes "his commitment and dedication to the common good" which "has been recognized by various entities", and which earned him, on March 14, 2006, the Medal of Cultural Merit – Gold, for the Chamber of Aljezur.
The Association for the Defense of Aljezur Heritage, explains the municipality, «has as its objectives the constant action of prospecting, inventorying, researching, disseminating and defending the paleontological, archaeological and historical-cultural heritage of the municipality of Aljezur and the consequent permanent dissemination of its activities or others that fall within the same objectives, putting pressure on the bodies of the Central and Local Power and exercising a pedagogical action at the level of local public opinion».
The management of Municipal Museums, the edition of publications, namely the Al-Rihana cultural magazine, the holding of workshops, lectures and exhibitions, many of them in direct partnership with the Municipality of Aljezur and the Parish Councils, or the archaeological excavations, « are demonstrative of the great work developed throughout this quarter of a century».
