Alcoutim creates a bike path to access the river beach

Work should be completed by the end of this year

Alcoutim will build a cycle path to access the Cadavais stream and Alcoutim river beach, starting at Avenida Fernando Lopes Dias.

The work will cost around 113 euros and should be completed by December 31, 2021.

With this intervention, «it is intended to improve the conditions for promoting pedestrian and cycling mobility, proportionally reducing the use of cars and contributing to the implementation of a more sustainable and efficient mobility system that contributes to the reduction of gas emissions greenhouse effect', according to the Alcoutim Council.

The road will have a length of 180 meters, with differentiated areas for pedestrians, with terracotta concrete slabs, and a bike path, with yellow concrete slabs. The area reserved for car access will be identified with dark granite cubes.

“A bicycle parking area will also be created, landscape integration will be carried out and urban equipment will be installed”, according to the Alcouteneja municipality.

The work “Access in Smooth Ways to the West Zone of Alcoutim” will be carried out as part of an application by the Municipality of Alcoutim to the Sustainable Urban Mobility Action Plan (PAMUS) and is co-financed by the CRESC Algarve 2020 Operational Program.
