Payment for parking meters in the city of Faro will be suspended from 12:00 to 15:00 from this Friday, December 11th, until the end of the year.
The inspection of payment for the existing charged parking in the entire city will no longer be carried out during this period.
The aim is “to facilitate travel for shopping or consumption in local shops and restaurants during the Christmas season”.
This extraordinary measure by the Municipality is intended to help stimulate consumption in the local restaurant and commerce sectors of the city of Faro "who are currently facing increased difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and restrictions in place."
In the same scope, the Municipality of Faro is also promoting the campaign “Faro. We are all", in partnership with various associations, which until January 6th will award 200 shopping vouchers in weekly draws, with values between 30 and 200 euros, for a total of 60 thousand euros, which can be used to make consumption in restaurants and other businesses in the county.
To qualify for these “vouchers”, consumers receive a coupon for every 10 euros of purchases made in participating establishments in the municipality, which they must then deposit in a tombola in the store supporting this project, located at nº 42, Rua Lethes , in downtown Faro.
The campaign also provides for two complementary promotional actions to stimulate the local economy: one is aimed at the school community, which consists of offering a voucher in the amount of 15 euros to each child attending pre-school and public 1st cycle education or private, for use in participating establishments; the other is aimed at companies based in the municipality that want to hold the usual Christmas get-togethers between employees in the participating restaurant.
The municipality offers companies that make their appointments in these restaurants "team building" actions for their employees, to be carried out at the Nautical Center of Praia de Faro, until May 31st.
With this set of initiatives, the Municipality of Faro it intends to promote the circular economy and reinforces the commitment to try to alleviate the difficulties of business in the various parishes of the county, in this context of pandemic crisis.
