Helping companies, but also families from Faro, is the main objective of the campaign “Faro. We are all", which was launched today and which will be based on vouchers (shopping vouchers) that are worth 'like real money'.

Over the next six weeks, the traditional stores of Faro Members will give out coupons for every ten euros of purchases made in their establishments, which will enable customers to win one of 200 shopping vouchers, with values between 30 and 200 euros, which can be used to make consumption in restaurants and other businesses spread throughout the county, until the 6th of January.

All this to help local businesses face the difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and the restrictions in place.

To be able to win a voucher, consumers will have to go to downtown Faro and deposit the coupons given to them at the stores, duly filled in, in a tombola in the store supporting this project, located at nº 42 of Rua Lethes, the artery that leads to the theater with the same name.

"People bring this coupon, deliver it to this store with their details, bring the invoice to confirm the purchase and can deposit it in the tombola", explained Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro, an entity that promotes the campaign in partnership with business associations.

On the way, those who deposit the coupons can “spin the wheel of fortune and are entitled to a prize”.

In the latter case, it is a hobby in which you always win something, namely prizes linked to the services of the municipality, such as tickets for the theater or even for the Festival F and activities at the Nautical Center of Praia de Faro, Among others.

What everyone who competes will want is that, to the wheel's prizes, join the vouchers, which will be drawn «every week, on Thursday. We will draw 200 prizes per week to the value of 10 thousand euros, which people can use in the county's traditional commerce, in any participating establishment».

The first draw was to take place on Thursday, but it was postponed a week, which means that, on December 3, «20 thousand euros will be drawn in vouchers». The last draw will be on December 31st.

“This campaign will cost 60 thousand euros. There are ten thousand euros that will be drawn every week and that is money that will enter local businesses and that will help families, through their purchases», summarizes Rogério Bacalhau.

«At the same time, we are going to have a campaign aimed at pre-school and first cycle students, to whom we are going to offer the traditional Farrobinhas, which is now in its 10th edition, together with a voucher 15 euros, so that the child can buy a gift for him or her family, also in the local shops», added the mayor.

In both cases, the vouchers they function “like real money” and can be used as such.

The only difference is that "no change will be given" if the purchase is less than the value of the voucher or several vouchers combined

«For example, if the account is 27 euros and if you deliver 30 euros in vouchers, 3 euros will not be returned. This also encourages people to invest a little more and not just stay with the value of the shopping voucher”, illustrated, in turn, Paulo Santos, vice president of the Chamber of Faro.

These were, moreover, coupons won by this mayor, when he made a purchase at the Olympic athlete Ana Dias' store, in Baixa de Faro, the first to enter the tombola.

These initiatives "come to replace" the activities that the Chamber carried out in previous years, with the aim of stimulating local commerce.

«The amount we allocated last year for entertainment and traditional Christmas activities, this year we will allocate to help our businesses and families, allocating these vouchers», said the president of the Chamber of Faro, adding that the investment, which will total more than one hundred thousand euros, is similar.

This campaign is promoted by the municipality, in partnership with the Association of Commerce and Services of the Algarve Region (ACRAL), the Commercial Development Association of the Historic Area of Faro (Associação Comércio da Baixa), the Association of Hotel and Similar Industries of the Algarve (AIHSA) and the Cultural and Activist Association of Baixa de Faro (OCAB).

But this does not mean that membership is reserved for members of these entities.

“Companies do not have to be members of these four associations. Any company, large or small, operators of the Municipal Market of Faro, the supermarket in Bordeira, Montenegro, Estoi, anyone can sign up», said the mayor from Farense.

To do this, entrepreneurs only have to go to the initiative website and register. It is also on this platform that you can find out which stores are participating, which will also be identified.

«Afterwards, they will receive the vouchers and they will have to come here and deliver them. The corresponding amount will be transferred to your bank account. Therefore, it is a simple process, with just one registration and then a transaction that they will carry out in the store, coming here, then, to receive the money», explained Rogério Bacalhau.

Commercial spaces, local services and restaurants based in the municipality of Faro, with the exception of establishments located in large commercial areas or shopping centers; medium and large food distribution establishments; gyms and other services that have annual fees as their main form of payment; hotels and local accommodation and real estate and other similar, such as construction companies or condominium management.

Companies headquartered in the municipality that want to hold the usual Christmas gatherings between employees in the participating restaurants will be rewarded by the Chamber of Faro with shares of team building for its employees, to be held at the Nautical Center of Praia de Faro, until the 31st of May.
