Covid-19: Homes begin vaccination in January, but only in those without active outbreaks

Continuous vaccination in Portugal

The Health Minister said today that the Covid-19 vaccination in homes is expected to begin in early January, but explained that in units with active outbreaks this will only happen when they are resolved.

"At this moment, the process of identifying the residential structures for the elderly that are the object of this administration is being concluded, given that there is a circumstance that we must bear in mind, which are the units that have outbreaks, which will not be subject to vaccination while the the outbreak remains active, for safety's sake," said Marta Temido, who was speaking at Curry Cabral Hospital.

The minister was speaking after having attended the vaccination of two nurses at Curry Cabral and the director of the infectious diseases service of this hospital unit, Fernando Maltez.
