The Recreational and Cultural Association of Musicians (ARCM), in Faro, promotes, on December 20th, at its headquarters, a Master class entitled “The Basics of Battery”, with drummer Marcelo Araújo.
According to the musician, this training is ideal "for all levels and all ages", as the contents taught will take into account "its rhythmic approach and everything that involves it: expression, dynamics, melody, tuning, the technique, articulation, sound and rhythms of the world».
ARCM emphasizes that «Marcelo Araújo is a professional drummer with over 20 years of experience in the world of music. He played with several musicians in different musical styles (Hermeto Pascoal, Naná Vasconcelos, Ira Coleman, Tom Harrel, Cyro Baptista, Troy Davis, Leo Espinosa, Victor Zamora, Big Band from Hot Clube de Portugal, among many others) throughout his career, but its main essence is improvisation, having also integrated formations and bands such as Paulo de Carvalho, Marcelo D2, Aline Frazão, Lura, or Pablo Lapidusas Internacional Trio».
He also participated in festivals in Portuguese-speaking countries such as Angola, Brazil and Mozambique and others such as Holland, France, England, Austria, Spain, Nigeria, South Korea, Senegal, or India.
Marcelo Araújo is open to listening to all participants (amateurs and professionals) and to clarifying any doubts in what promises to be «a beautiful meeting of sharing and ideas».
Despite having attended professional education in classical percussion and a degree in jazz at the Lisbon Higher School, the musician considers himself, «above all, a self-taught», having integrated, as a professional and from an early age, at the tender age of 11 years old, the formations of which his father was part.
«It is very important for ARCM to continue to invest in training partners and non-members. It is one of our great investments in the medium and long term”, highlights João Melro, president of ARCM, for whom this 2019/2020 ARCM Training Plan “has been a winning bet”.
A Master class de Marcelo Araújo has the associated cost per student of 10 euros, and takes place at the ARCM headquarters between 15:00 pm and 17:00 pm. Entries must be made by email [email protected].
