Águas da Cruz is the new president of the Algarve Intermunicipal Assembly

The Lagoon mayor replaced Adriano Pimpão in the post

José Águas da Cruz was elected president of the Algarve Intermunicipal Assembly, at a meeting of this body of AMAL – Algarve Intermunicipal Community, which took place on Wednesday in Olhão.

Águas da Cruz will replace Adriano Pimpão, who in June resigned as president of the Municipal Assembly (AM) of Loulé and left municipal deputy – he was elected on the PS lists, as an independent. In this way, he also ceased to be able to be president of the Intermunicipal Assembly.

The presidency of this body is now the responsibility of the socialist Águas da Cruz, the president of the Municipal Assembly of Lagoa.

This election has already been praised by PS de Lagoa, who speaks of “enormous pride and satisfaction”, for having chosen “its historical militant”.

«This is a fair recognition of the work of those who have dedicated their lives to the public cause, with a true spirit of mission, of service to the Socialist Party, the Lagoans and the Algarve region. This election, in addition to being deserved, is historic, as for the first time a mayor of Lagoa is elected to preside over this deliberative body of the region», stressed the socialists of Lagoa.

The PS also speaks of the "political importance that this election has for Lagoa and for all the people of Lagos, as it is the recognition, by an entire region, of the work of the mayors elected by the Socialist Party in the municipality".
