The Live Acústico À Moda Quarteiense concert scheduled for today is canceled

The event had been authorized by the Health Authority, but the current situation led the municipality to cancel it

Loulé City Council decided to cancel the concert «Live Acústico À Moda Quarteiense», which was supposed to take place this Saturday, October 31st, in Quarteira. The cancellation is motivated by the emergence of a Covid-19 outbreak in this city.

In a statement, the Loulé Chamber guarantees that the event, promoted by the Sou Quarteira Movement, "will be rescheduled for a more favorable moment that requires fewer restrictions and that guarantees even more public safety."

In its public communication, the municipality recalls that Portugal lived yesterday «one of the darkest days in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The country surpassed all the maximum number of new daily cases reached to date, having registered 4656 new infections and 40 deaths».

Despite everything, stresses the Municipality of Loulé, «so far, the Algarve is one of the regions most spared by the pandemic, having even so registered another 57 new cases and 2 deaths».

«Since the beginning of the pandemic, the municipality of Loulé has been exemplary in the fight against COVID-19. Despite the 10 new cases we registered today [yesterday], we are far below the rate of infection in most municipalities in the country, as well as in the region, considering the number of infected per inhabitant».

“However, and despite the great disparity between the different regions and municipalities of the country, we could not completely dissociate ourselves from the general situation experienced at national level”, he admits.

“In recent days, in the municipality of Loulé, and in particular in the city of Quarteira, there have been some cases that had the family environment as their focus of contagion and are currently having an impact on the school community in various establishments”.

When the concert of the Sou Quarteira Movement was scheduled, at the beginning of October, «it's been more than three weeks», «no one could have predicted such a sudden and sudden increase in cases of COVID-19 in our country».

Over the past few days, «several technicians have worked hard to carry out this project in order to offer Quarteirans a safe moment of entertainment, valuing local culture and creativity».

However, and «despite the event having obtained the assent of the Regional Directorate of Health and the organization having drawn up a rigorous contingency plan, the situation currently experienced in the country and in the municipality led the Municipality of Loulé to decide to cancel Live Acoustic Style Quarteirense, this Saturday».

It is because, stresses the municipality in its statement, "in these difficult times that we all live, it is up to local authorities to take difficult decisions to preserve the well-being of the population."

The Loulé Council ends by appealing "to everyone's understanding, as well as the unity of the entire community in this moment of health crisis."
