The program DiVaM – Energizing and Enhancement of Monuments in the Algarve will be this weekend, October 3rd and 4th, with activities in the Megalithic Monuments of Alcalar (Portimão), Castelo de Aljezur and Fortaleza de Sagres.
The Megalithic Monuments of Alcalar, municipality of Portimão, host the initiative on October 3, from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm “Like stones…We are all equal in difference – Human Rights, Equality and Non-Discrimination, the challenges for a new era” which invites young people who live near this monument to reflect on the concepts raised in the Charter of Human Rights, drawn up in 1948.
«After a moment of reflection on the themes exposed, participants will be invited to make a graphic and visual record, in the form of sentences, poems and drawings. The proposal will be carried out under the guidance of the plastic artist Isabel Macieira and will be translated into a collective work of the “mural” type, says the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve.
The project is from Associação Partilha Alternativa with the support of the Municipal Museum of Portimão. Enrollment is mandatory via [email protected].
On the same day, starting at 18:30 pm, at Aljezur Castle, the artistic fusion show “Varandas da Memória” will take place. Companhia Ao Luar Teatro visits the troubled life of King Poet Al-Mu`Tamid, from the hot nights spent at the Palácio das Varandas, in Silves, to the battles in the Taifas of Al-Andaluz, to the Moroccan exile.
This is a show inspired by the magic of Arabic poetry, in an encounter with live music.
«The Ao Luar Teatro Company seeks to make known the life and poetry of the most influential figure in the Algarve, Al-Andaluz, continuing its work of creation inspired by the intangible cultural heritage of the Algarve region. This theatrical production is part of the enhancement of the region's heritage and the recovery of the old, the historic, what is ours and what makes us different from others, as being the Arab influence», according to the Regional Directorate of Culture.
The text and Artistic direction are by Rui Penas, with interpretation by Rui Penas and live music by Pedro Branco. The technician is João Baião, the costumes are by Berta Cardoso, the paintings by Nelson Martins and the rag dolls by Filipa Faísca. The scenography is in charge of Rui Penas and Luís Santos, this being an Ao Luar Teatro production, with the executive production of Célia Martins.

The Fortress of Sagres welcomes you on Sunday (October 4th), at 17 pm, the project "Elements II" that crosses video, photography and music and where the public will also be involved.
This is composed of two parts: the first with music that addresses bucolic and popular themes, including repertoire from the XNUMXth century and projected images that transcribe the past, evoking the people of the Algarve and its culture, forms of other lives through the collections of video by Jorge Graça.
The second part of the show will have «images of the present, of those who live, of those who breathe the place today, by Jorge Marques», including «a varied European repertoire from the same period».
This project aims to rescue memory, rescue habits that, despite disappearing, are closely linked to the place, the Algarve, the survival of families, the habits that dictate who the people here are and is the responsibility of the Repeated Question – Associação Cultural, with the Artistic Direction of Elsa Mathei and Ana Falé.
