Even without a festival, sardines will “light up” the riverside area of Portimão

Social networks will remember the Sardine Festival of other years

Portimão, this year, will not have the Sardine Festival, but it will “honor this gastronomic tradition”, which was scheduled for this week (August 3rd to 9th), and will turn on the lights that inspire the festival's logo on the railway bridge.

The Portimão City Council emphasizes that the festival, which has been held since 1985, is «more than a summer festival», constituting one of «the main brands in the city».

The relighting of the lights on the bridge, according to the municipality, intends to invite «residents and visitors to taste the usual grilled sardines
on the plate or on bread, accompanied by the traditional baked potato and salad in the Algarve, in one of the typical restaurants located in this area».

Throughout the week, this moment will also be marked with «a set of activities and special publications on the official channels of the Municipality, either Facebook, want in Instagram », which will pay «tribute to the grilled sardine which, even without a festival, remains queen in Portimão».

Until August 9, interviews with visitors and reports will be carried out with the usual partner restaurants of the Sardine Festival, «at the same time that a dynamic of memories will be created on Facebook and Instagram, transporting those who watch these notes on a journey in time, even some of the highest moments of the event, which is the ex-libris of an excellent summer vacation spent in Portimão».

The festival returns for the year, and the official date will be announced on 9 August.
