The two-Michelin-starred chef Henrique Sá Pessoa is one of the 30 chefs who will participate in Arrrebita Portimão, a gastronomy party with free entrance that will take place on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of August, in shops in the center of Portimão.

Over three days, this initiative promoted by Amuse Bouche, with the support of the Portimão Chamber, will seek to stimulate the local economy, commerce and tourism.

«Among established names and young promises of national cuisine, the chefs are challenged to serve the most delicious and creative street food in mode grab & go (with dishes between 5 and 8 euros), using the best Portuguese product and, whenever possible, from the Algarve», describes the Portimão Town Council.

As for the delicacies, they will not be served in a restaurant, “but rather in stores located in the center of Portimão, and on the days of the festival the participating spaces will be open at their usual time, extending the closing time until 23:30”.

This gastronomy festival will bring to Portimão «some of the most talented young Portuguese chefs, such as Pedro Abril (Chapitô à Mesa, Lisbon), Vítor Adão (Plano, Lisbon), Bernardo Agrela (East Mambo, Lisbon), Filipe Ramalho (Basilii, Torre Palma Wine Hotel, Monforte), Diogo Noronha (ex-Pesca, Lisbon), Carlos Teixeira (Herdade do Esporão, Reguengos de Monsaraz), Tiago de Lima Cruz (ex-Taberna Sal Grosso), Mateus Freire (Faz Frio, Lisbon) and Manuel Lino (Audaz Gastropub, Lisbon)».

«Angélica Salvador (IN Different, Porto), Natalie Castro (Isco, Lisbon), Marcella Ghirelli (Comida Independente, Lisbon) and Leonor Godinho (Musa da Bica, Lisbon) represent female talent, while Tiago Bonito (Largo do Paço, Lisbon) Casa da Calçada, Amarante) and Rui Silvestre (Vistas, Cacela) complete the group of chefs recognized with a Michelin star», adds the Câmara de Portimão.

There is also space for chefs from the Algarve, or chefs working in the Algarve, namely Rui Sequeira (Alameda, Faro), Emídio Freire (Faina, Portimão), Francisco Barbosa (The Elska Kitchen, Aljezur), João Marreiros (Loki, Portimão), Leandro Araújo (Cafezique, Loulé), Marco Morais (F, Portimão) and Hagmitt Almeida (Polvo & Companhia , Santa Luzia).

«To this poster are also added big names such as André Lança Cordeiro (Essential, Lisbon), Filipe Rodrigues (Taberna do Mar, Lisbon), Hugo Brito (Boi-Cavalo, Lisbon), Luís Gaspar (Court Room), Moisés Franco (Zazah, Lisbon), Napoleão Valente (Pabe, Lisbon), Maurício Vale (Soi, Lisbon) and Vítor Hugo (ex-Peixola, Lisbon)», concludes the municipality.

Although admission is free, the venue's capacity is limited to "40 people permanently in each of the streets".

«The tasting of the dishes should, therefore, be done outside the premises, in order to allow all those present to taste the dishes created by the chefs, with reference to the fact that Amuse Buche guarantees that the test will be carried out to Covid-19 a all chefs and auxiliary staff, with the aim of safeguarding the protection of all participants, as well as the local population and visitors to Arrebita Portimão», concluded the Chamber of Portimão.

The event in Portimão will mark  the start of Arrebita Portugal, «an event that aims to bring the best of national cuisine to various parts of the country».
