The finalists from the Algarve for the 7 Wonders of Popular Culture are already known

The list was released this Sunday, June 7, by the organization

Medronho distills (Monchique), copper cataplana, Espiga Festival and Mãe Soberana, all from Loulé, Charolas de Bordeira and Festa da Pinha (Faro) and the Procession of Aleluia (São Brás de Alportel. These are the 7 finalists from the Algarve for the 7 Wonders of Popular Culture contest. 

The list was released this Sunday, June 7, by the organization.

The Algarve had a total of 13 nominees, from which these 7 finalists were selected.

In Lagos, the nominations for the Festa da Aldeia da Senhora do Forte (Feasts and Fairs) and the Legend of Aldeia da Senhora do Forte (Legends and Myths) were not chosen.

In Monchique, the candidacies that did not advance to this new phase were the song Maria Latoa, the legend of Zorra Berradeira and the scissors chairs.

After the organization of the 7 Wonders of Portugal received 504 applications for its 2020 competition, dedicated to Popular Culture, the panel of experts, composed of seven elements from each of the 18 districts and two autonomous regions, elected 7 heritages from each region, a total of 140 regional finalists, who will participate in the respective regional qualifiers, on air from the 6th of July on RTP1 and RTP Internacional.

These 20 regional finals correspond to 20 live programs, to be broadcast in July, from the smallest municipalities that are in the competition, where the 20 winners will be directly selected, through the greatest number of popular votes. of repechage, to be held on August 16, where the popular vote will decide which are the eight repescados, from the 20 runners-up in the regional finals.

These 28 semi-finalists will be distributed by geographic proximity criteria, in two semi-finals, which will select the 14 finalists, to be held on 23 and 30 August.

On September 5th, the Official Declaration of the 7 Wonders of Popular Culture – SICAL will be made, in the prime-time of RTP.
