Sheikh's hotel group promises to pay "in the coming days" unpaid wages

Yesterday, May 22, there was a concentration of workers

The management of the JJW Hotels & Resorts Group, owned by Sheikh Mohamed Bin Issa Al Jaber, who manages 5-star hotels and golf courses in the Algarve, promised to pay "in the coming days" the wages in arrears to the workers.

Yesterday, May 22, there was a concentration of workers in the Pinheiros Altos project, in Quinta do Lago, after which the administration called a meeting with those responsible for the establishments.

Like Sul Informação had already figured it out, the employees of the different projects that the multimillionaire Sheikh Mohamed Bin Issa Al Jaber owns in the Algarve have not yet received their April salary.

Around 500 people are involved, working at the five-star hotels Penina, in Alvor, and Dona Filipa, in Vale do Lobo, as well as at Formosa Park, in Ancão, and at the San Lorenzo and Pinheiros Altos golf courses, in Quinta do Lago, in Almancil.

Now, in addition to yesterday afternoon's meeting with those responsible for the various establishments, the administration also met with the workers of the Penina Hotel & Golf Resort and has another meeting scheduled for the Hotel Dona Filipa with the workers of the other establishments. The promise is to pay back wages in the coming days.

The workers, says the Union of Hotelaria do Algarve, «redecided once again to give the benefit of the doubt to the administration, in the expectation that the promise will be fulfilled».

"As always, the union is and will be on the side of the workers in this just struggle," he adds.

«The Algarve Hotel Industry Union appeals once again to the workers to remain united and mobilized for the struggle, whether for the payment of wage arrears, or for the defense of jobs, or for the correct payment of work performed on a public holiday. the increase of 200% or for the fulfillment of any other right», he concludes.
