Biomolecular tests for screening for SARS-COV2, coronavirus that causes the Covid-19 disease, began yesterday to be carried out on about 200 pre-school professionals in the municipality of Albufeira related to school groups, as well as at APEXA, an association of special education, and in the Kindergarten of the Municipal Workers' Cooperative, announced the City Council.
These tests are carried out using the RT-PCR methodology, and are carried out by the reference laboratory, determined by the Regional Health Administration, in the municipality of Albufeira, in other words, the AQUALAB Laboratory.
The costs of the initiative are borne by the Municipality of Albufeira, covering about 200 professionals, including kindergarten teachers, senior technicians, animators (technical assistants), educational assistants, cooks, and other associated professionals.
This action covers the 11 kindergartens of the public network, with a total of 43 classrooms distributed among the various school groups, totaling 1007 students.
Professionals with responsibility for the AAAF (Animation and Family Support Activities) are also included in this universe of tests.
Thus, this measure covers the kindergartens in Olhos de Água, Vale Carro, Vale Serves, Ferreiras, Paderne, Guia, Vale Parra, Albufeira – Av. Ténis, Albufeira – Caliços, Vale Pedras and Albufeira – Correeira. It also includes the Nursery of the Cooperative “Os Piratas” and APEXA.
José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira, emphasizes that “it could not be otherwise. For children and professionals who deal with them, all the attention and care is never too much. We want to guarantee a safe return, a happy and peaceful return”.
Moreover, he stresses that this is “an action entirely under the responsibility of the Municipality, as we did with the relief and security forces”.
The tests started yesterday, Tuesday, the 26th, and will run until the beginning of next week.
