The Kayak Clube Castores do Arade (KCCA) organized and won the Diogo Lopes trophy, which brought together nearly a hundred athletes in Lagoa, on the 1st and 2.
The hosts took first place in the collective classification, Grupo Desportivo de Alcoutim took second and the podium was closed by Clube Naval de Portimão.
According to the Câmara de Lagoa, which supported the event, the KCCA also won “first prizes in all categories in the competition”.
This triathlon event, which combines swimming, running and canoeing, «started at the Municipal Swimming Pools of Lagoa, ran through Quinta dos Vales and sailed along the section of the river Arade in front of the Hotel Riverside Parchal».
In the swimming component, the youngest athletes covered a distance of 200 meters, while the older ones swam 400 meters. On the road, the take for the little ones was 1500 meters and, for the more experienced, it was 3500 meters.
The race ended with a canoeing slope, in which the youngest were called to cover 3 meters and the oldest 6.
