DiVaM opens applications for an edition that will talk about Human Rights

"What are the responsibilities of cultural entities in terms of thought, debate and practice, in the context of our common life, in our region and in the world?"

Applications are open until the 29th of February for the DiVaM program – Dynamization and Valorization of Monuments, by the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, for the year 2020, under the theme “Human Rights, Equality and Non-Discrimination”.

And why this theme?

"Even in the most consolidated democracies we see the reappearance of extremist movements, violence and incitement to hatred, which tend to bipolarize societies and normalize a discourse that attacks minorities", explains the Regional Directorate of Culture.

“What are the responsibilities of cultural entities in terms of thought, debate and practice, in the context of our common life, in our region and in the world? How can heritage and the promotion of that heritage help to respond to human rights violations, which happen every day and so close to us?”, he asks.

Reinforcing the purpose initiated in previous years, «the intention is to continue to promote the basic principles of the “Convention of Faro” with the active participation of the surrounding communities in cultural creation and in real and serious debate on relevant and pertinent issues and problems in the present time».

Applications must be sent to the e-mail [email protected], care of Dr. Raquel Roxo. To consult the regulation, click here
