The Praia Bridge project in Faro it is going to be reformulated, so that the contractors accept the value of 3,5 million euros to carry out the work. The contest, released in December of last year, was deserted again and the solution found involves reformulating the project to reduce the cost of building the bridge.
Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro, advanced to Sul Informação that “we are currently reformulating the project and reformulating the specifications. Let's see if, in October, we will launch a new contest».
According to our newspaper, the construction of the pillars designed initially alone can cost around one million euros, which increases the value of the work.
Bearing in mind that when the last competition was launched, also worth 3,5 million euros, the Chamber of Faro had already provided about an extra million euros, for a project that is the responsibility of Sociedade Polis Ria Formosa, the solution found involves redoing the project, to attract contractors.
The mayor explained that these are “small changes to the project, some adjustments. The designers are doing this and we are going to see if the Polis Society can afford it. We've already had meetings, to see if we have everything ready to launch the new competition in October at the latest».
According to Rogério Bacalhau, “this type of competition can take 6/7 months. It is a public tender, which must have been seen by the Court of Auditors, so it takes some time. But the essential thing is to launch the contest and, from there, is to let things go».
the aedile of Faro remembers that «this is a story that started, if I'm not mistaken, in 2008, with the decision to make the project. All studies were done, then there was lack of money, which has been resolved. We have already launched two contests that were deserted. This is a work with some complexity and, therefore, I would like this to be the last bureaucratic stage before the construction of the bridge», he concluded.
