The new tender for the construction of the new access bridge to Praia de Faro, with a base value of 3,5 million euros, was published this Friday, December 28, in Diário da República, by Sociedade Polis.
In a note sent to the newsrooms, the Chamber of Faro recalls that, «the outcome became possible after the signing, on the 27th, of the protocol between the Municipality and the Polis, according to which the local authority disburses another 1,12 million euros to make a competition that, it is recalled, last October, had no competitors more attractive.».
The autarchy also emphasizes that «this new investment by the municipality arises from the lack of funding by the Polis or the Government to make viable a work that, it should be remembered, is the sole responsibility of Sociedade Polis».
to the Chamber of Faro, this was «another additional effort by the municipality that takes place after, in 2009, it had already contributed to the investment by placing around 900 thousand euros in the company's share capital and, in August 2016, having injected another 561 euros, given the lack of funds at Polis to ensure the competition and the intransigence of the guardianship».
The Municipality of Faro considers that this was «the possible solution, taking into account the need to increase the levels of service, safety and comfort of users in the access to Praia de Faro».
The new bridge, guarantees the municipality, "will be even more efficient than the current one from a hydraulic, environmental, architectural and navigability point of view."
In statements to the Sul Informação, Rogério Bacalhau, in November, predicted the start of the work, “if there are no problems with the competition”, at the beginning of 2020.
