Loulé Chamber congratulates the University for the creation of the Faculty of Medicine

Creation of the Faculty has already been approved by the minister

This Tuesday, 24 September, the Loulé Chamber went public to congratulate the University of the Algarve (UAlg) for the creation of the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. 

In a note sent to the newsrooms, the municipality says that this was an initiative "long awaited by all the Algarve".

The creation of the new organic unit is “an added value due to the significant benefits it will have in the various sectors – economy, especially with regard to tourism, education, research, health, among others – constituting a significant step in terms of attracting more students and teachers to the region».

For those responsible for the Municipality of Loulé, «on the basis of this historic and far-reaching decision for the entire region, there are also the various actions underway within the scope of the ABC project – Loulé Active Life Health & Research, a partnership cemented in 2018 between the Municipality of Loulé and the Algarve Biomedical Center and which bets on innovation, in favor of science, and aims to solve several existing gaps related to research, providing better health care for residents and visitors».

According to the autarchy, the «set of equipment and services that the ABC will provide and the future Faculty of Medicine will be decisive factors for the affirmation of a “regional health ecosystem”».

The creation of this organic unit, which has already been approved by the Minister of Science and Higher Education, was advanced this Tuesday, 24 September, by the Sul Informação.
