The Lagos Cultural Center will reopen «with a strong cultural program» in September, after having undergone a maintenance intervention. Music, theater, festivals and new exhibitions are part of the menu that the Câmara de Lagos will serve the public during the next month.
On the 6th and 7th, the Fado Fest returns, which will celebrate, over two days, the best that is done in this traditional Portuguese musical genre.
On the 6th, Marco Rodrigues takes the stage, «one of the most famous names in the new generation of Fado», according to Câmara de Lagos. On the 7th, it will be the turn of the renowned Camané to perform, in collaboration with Mário Laginha in the joint project “Aqui está-sessegado”, where the repertoire of the former joins new songs composed by Laginha.
From the 12th to the 14th of September, there is a new festival, this time dedicated to flamenco. This event will feature performances by Flamenco Vostrum (12th), Tipicos – Flamenco Vintage (13) and Victor Bravo CIA (14), always at 21:30 pm.
From the 17th to the 21st of September, at 21 pm, the Centro Cultural de Lagos hosts the Teatro Revista do Boa Esperança Atlético Clube Portimonense show “A Culpa é do Cu…Meta”. a suggestion “full of humour, music and social and political criticism, which promises a lot of laughter”.
On September 27, Cordis invite Nuno Silva «for a bold symbiosis of his voice with the Portuguese guitar and piano».
Before the end of the month, on the 28th, the Lacobrigense cultural space will host the show “O Sul de Sophia”, by Grafonola Voadora & Napoleão Mira, «a visual performance that aims to illustrate the presence of the Algarve and Lagos in the author's work », inserted in the celebrations of the centenary of the birth of Sophia de Mello Breyner.
The renowned Portuguese writer is also the central element of the exhibition “Places of Sophia”, which will be on display from 14 September to 26 October at the Centro Cultural de Lagos. This exhibition is «composed of about 45 photographs and will include a representation of environments most familiar to Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen in Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve».
Also in the field of exhibitions, the exhibition “Afro-disiaca”, by Neusa Negrão, from 14 September to 28 December, will also be on display at the Cultural Center. «The artist from Lagos will present paintings of feminine body inspiration, with dark tones and African contours, which will certainly do the wonders of visitors», describes the Câmara de Lagos.
