Aljezur fire forces evacuate houses

There are three active fronts

Houses in the area between Monte Clérigo and Arrifana, in the municipality of Aljezur, were evacuated this Friday, 19 July, due to the fire that has raged since early afternoon. 

The situation was confirmed by Sul Informação, by source of the District Relief Operations Command (CDOS) of Faro.

"The commander decided, as a preventive measure, to evacuate some isolated houses and animals," he said.

The fire has three active fronts, one of which "is giving up the means". The others continue to "plow with great intensity", in an area of ​​forest, eucalyptus and pine forest.

The “strong wind” has been one of the main enemies, according to the same source from the CDOS.

For now, there are no cut roads. In the firefighting, which was alerted at 15:27 pm, there are 8 air vehicles, 61 vehicles and 211 operational.
