Teaching at the University of Algarve deserves presence in Times Higher Education ranking

Ranking position confirms UAlg as "one of the best globally and in Europe"

The University of Algarve (UAlg) appears for the first time in the ranking of the Times Higher Education (THE) Europe Teaching Rankings 2019, in position 101-125. This classification analyzes the performance of teaching in European higher education institutions.

This ranking integrates 258 institutions and ranks the main higher education institutions (HEIs) in Europe, using 14 performance indicators, a substantial part of which was collected through the response of more than 125 students from 18 countries to a questionnaire.

Among the main aspects assessed are students' interactions with teachers, their opportunities to develop skills for career development after graduation, and the likelihood that students will recommend their institution to friends and family.

Other factors also contribute to the global ranking, which weigh the gender balance of students and staff, publications by professors and the institutions' reputation among their peers.

According to the University of Algarve, the 2nd edition of this ranking confirms the Algarve academy «as one of the best at global and European level, as had been recently confirmed by the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings 2019 results, which analyzes the performance of higher education institutions created 50 years ago or less».

The Teaching Ranking of Europe seeks to assess in-depth the performance of higher education globally, «and this highlight in the Europe Teaching Ranking 2019 is very rewarding for the entire academic community of UAlg», concludes the UAlg.
